Warren County Clerk

Lynette Yates, County Clerk

Proudly serving the citizens of Warren County, Kentucky

June 23rd Primary Election Information – WATCH YOUR MAILBOX

I understand everyone has frustrations with a Vote By Mail Election but due to COVID-19 this is what our Governor and Secretary of State have ORDERED to be done to keep all Kentucky Citizens safe. Although this has never been done in Kentucky I assure you my staff takes every election very seriously. It is the most important thing we do in our office. We are taking every precaution to make sure this election will be just as Secure and successful as any other Election.

Watch your mailbox!! The State Board of Election will be sending everyone a postcard notice on MAY 22nd giving you instructions to go their website and apply for a ballot. That website will not be available until MAY 22nd. Once you have applied for your ballot our office will mail you the ballot. You will have a few options on getting the ballot back to us. You may return it by mail, our staff will be setting up dropoff locations on Saturdays in June throughout the community or you can drop it at the Courthouse. Please watch FB and Twitter for those locations and times. May 26th at 4 pm is the last day to register to vote or change anything on your registration. GoVoteKy.com

As we have all had to adapt to a new way of going about our daily lives this is just one more thing. At this date and time, County Clerks across our state could not staff this Election safely. The staff in every Clerk’s Office across this state are essential personnel. We must keep them healthy and safe to perform our everyday jobs of vehicle registration, marriage license, and recordings as well as the Election. In Warren County, we use approximately 400 poll workers and 80% do not want to work this Election due to their health risks.

This is a Primary Election. You will only be allowed to vote for candidates of your political party. We have no races for the Independent party. Only Democrats and Republicans can vote in this Election.

We will have in-person absentee voting at our Courthouse by appointment only for any special needs June 8th thru June 22nd. You must call our office for your appointment 270-843-5306 or 270-843-5303.

On Election Day we will have only 1 Precinct open for the entire county which will be at Phil Moore Park from 6 am to 6 pm. We will have 4 voting stations inside the gymnasium. We are REQUIRED to keep every voter spaced 6ft apart while waiting in line and sanitize the area after each voter. All Election Staff will have PPE on for your protection as well as theirs. We want you to understand there will be much longer wait times. We are concerned if voters wait to vote in person on Election Day you are increasing your health risks as well as the ones around you.

I took an oath to the citizens of this community, as I stated before I understand your frustrations because everyone’s right to vote is sacred. You are not being denied your right, but for this Primary Election due to the health crisis, you are being asked to vote a little differently. The choice is still yours on how you want to go about it. Stay safe and healthy!! Prayers for all!!
